Our hockey team, the Richmond Vintage Vets got together to show our support for Jersey Day.

Across Canada today, people are wearing their jerseys to run errands, go to work, and to go to school - to show their support for the victims of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash and their families.

The initiative was first circulated on Facebook by a group of caring hockey parents here in BC as a way to honour the Saskatchewan junior hockey team, and photos submitted today to Global BC have even seen the movement extended all the way to the United States, the Netherlands, and even China.

Our team also honours a player every year with the #14 jersey with commemoration of our teammate Gerry Pughe, who passed of cancer a few years ago - every year, one teammate is recognized with the Gerry Pughe Memorial for Valiant Effort Team Spirit award. Congratulations to this year’s recipient, Dave Kraemer.

As hockey players, parents, and lifelong fans - you have an entire community behind you. #JerseysforHumboldt
